Dream Blunt (force) Rotation

The announcement of another term for Trump brought back a sense of fear and isolation, prompting me to prepare for the worst. However, it was a specific moment during the inauguration—a scene where three of the wealthiest men in America stood behind the president—that deeply enraged and motivated me to create this piece. This moment crystallized my growing fear of an oligarchy taking hold in this country, and it is this fear that drives the artwork I am sharing.

Oligarchy in America is dangerous because it undermines the collective will of the people. Billionaires, detached from the realities of everyday life, cannot truly understand or empathize with the struggles of the average American. Their influence over decision-making skews policies in favor of the wealthy, further deepening the divide between the rich and everyone else. As the wealth gap continues to widen, the working class remains ignored, while social issues are weaponized to pit Americans against one another. The real issue, however, is not about partisan divides—it's about the growing disparity between the wealthy elite and the working and poor classes, and how this imbalance threatens the core of our democracy. When a small group controls the economic landscape, they wield disproportionate influence over political outcomes. This not only compromises democratic ideals, but it also stifles the voices of marginalized communities, ensuring that decisions are made in the interest of the few, not the many.

This artwork reflects my feelings of helplessness and anger towards those I perceive as fueling the growing division among Americans. They are the ones who have stirred unrest and pitted us against one another for their own gain. As I created this piece, I couldn’t help but think that, in a different time this very group of individuals would be held accountable for their actions, for the roles they have played in perpetuating this inequality.
